Operating Hours & Seasons

The Visitor Center at Spalding, Idaho, is open all year.
Summer Hours: From May 22, 2009 to Labor Day, 8:00 am until 5:00 pm.
Fall/Spring Hours: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
Winter Hours: November 29, 2009 to March 14, 2010, the visitor center will be open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
The visitor center is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's.

The Visitor Center at Big Hole National Battlefield in Wisdom, Montana is open all year. From mid-June to early September, the park is open from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. In the winter from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. The visitor center is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's.

Bear Paw Battlefield is open year round from dawn to dusk. The Blaine County Museum in Chinook has exhibits and an audiovisual program on the battle at Bear Paw. In the summer the museum is open daily from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. They are closed for lunch from 12:00 to 1:00 pm. For the remainder of the year, it is open on weekdays from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. They are closed for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's.

Did You Know?
Josiah Red Wolf was five years old when the 1877 war began. His parents were killed at the Battle of Big Hole in Montana. He returned to Big Hole at the age of 91 to help dedicate the new visitor center in 1968.
