Parking:

  • Sunrise - 5 spaces between visitor center and Sunrise Day Lodge
  • White River Campground - 1 space at campground ranger station

Facilities:

  • Sunrise Visitor Center: General information, exhibits, guided ranger programs, and a bookstore. Take an audio descrption tour of the exhibits- devices at desk, or use your own smart device by downloading the NPS AD app. There are accessible restrooms, water fountains, and picnic tables outside the visitor center. A wheelchair is available for short term loan. Path to the visitor center is paved with a gentle incline, but narrow; travel toward front door, then take path to the right and around to the north side of the building
  • Sunrise Day Lodge: Offers dine in and to go food service and a gift shop. Accessible ramp on west side of building
  • Restrooms:
    • Sunrise: Accessible restrooms with running water at the parking lot near the Sunrise Visitor Center, or vault toilets without water near the Sunrise Day Lodge. Path is paved and level
    • White River Campground: Accessible restrooms at picnic area and in Loop C

Food Service:

  • Sunrise Day Lodge: Dine in or take out options. Fully accessible

Picnic Areas:

  • Sunrise: There is a large picnic area to the north of the Sunrise Visitor Center. Paths are hard gravel but not smooth or level. Many picnic tables, some with mountain views, though none are extended
  • White River Picnic Area: Several picnic tables directly south of parking area. Mostly level dirt access with some avoidable rocks

Camping—White River Campground

  • Sites are available first-come, first-served
  • Sites C3, C4, C5, C6, and C9 are the most usable. All sites include picnic table and fire ring. No designated accessible sites, no raised tent pads
  • Accessible restroom in Loop C
 

Trails:

Sunrise

  • Emmons Vista and Silver Forest Trail - A 2 mile (3.2km) out and back trail starting on the south side of the parking lot heads first toward Emmons Vista. At the trail junction, continue left to Silver Forest, or straight to the viewpoint. Often sunny and exposed, the trail has rocks, roots, and some steep sections.
  • Service Road (pedestrians only) - A 0.8 mile (1.4km) gravel road begins at the southwest corner of the parking area and continues to an exhibit panel describing the site of the historic Sunrise Campground. Several different trails split off from the road, however they become narrower and steeper after the exhibit panel.

Surrounding Area

  • Tipsoo Lake - A 0.5 mile (0.8 km) loop around a small subalpine lake. Trail is mostly hard packed, level dirt. The trail is narrow and has several wooden bridges to cross creeks, as well as stone stairs near the parking area.

 

Things to Do:

  • Take the self-guided Sunrise Nature Trail or join a Ranger-led program
  • Enjoy the audio description tour of the Sunrise Visitor Center– devices are available at the desk.
  • Visit viewpoints at Sunrise Point and Tipsoo Lake—both have accessible parking.
  • Learn more about the geology of the area by listening to the Sunrise Geology Audio Tour while driving along the Sunrise Road.
