The National Park Service operates no campgrounds in the park.
The Corps of Engineers operates two campgrounds close by: Cottonwood and Tailwaters. Both are in Nebraska. Reservations for the period between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend can be made at 1-877-444-6777 or online at Recreation.gov. A limited number of first-come campsites are available at each campground. Tailwaters Campground is closed from mid-October to mid-May. Cottonwood Campground is open year-round, though water is turned off between late October and mid-April.
The South Dakota Division of Parks and Recreation operates several campgrounds in the area. They are: Chief White Crane Recreation Area (RA), Lewis and Clark RA, Pierson Ranch RA, Randall Creek RA, and Springfield RA. Reservations at these and the other state campgrounds can be made at 1-800-710-2267 or online at CampSD.com. A valid state park entry permit is required.
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission operates campgrounds in Lewis and Clark Lake State Recreation Area (locally know as Weigand-Burbach) along the south side of Lewis and Clark Lake. Campgrounds are also found at Niobrara State Park and at Ponca State Park. Reservations at these and the other state campgrounds can be made at (402) 471-1414 (9am - 6pm Central Time) or online at outdoornebraska.org. A valid state park entry permit is required.
