The Lost Horse Zone features rocky mountains, historical sites, and open valleys filled with Joshua trees, rock islands, and sandy washes. Elevations range from 3,500 to 5,300 feet. Camping is not allowed near any mining or historical sites.

Trails: The California Hiking and Riding Trail, Lost Horse Loop (6.5-mile loop), Big Trees Trail a.k.a. Lost Horse Connector Trail (3 miles one-way), and the Paac Kü̱vü̱hü̱’k trail (4.5 miles one-way).

Bordering Zones: Juniper Flats, Pleasant Valley, and Twin Tanks
