The dark night skies on most parts of Fire Island provide an opportunity to view the stars as you might not be able to see them at home.

Occasional star gazing programs are offered at the Wilderness Visitor Center, Watch Hill, and at the Fire Island Lighthouse.

Did You Know?
Many boating accidents and drownings are alcohol-related. National Park Service rangers and other officers conduct safe boating checks and enforce boating under the influence (BUI) laws on the Great South Bay.
