Gas Station

There are no gas stations on Fire Island. If you’re arriving by car via one of the scenic parkways, don't expect to find a gas station on every corner. The closest gas stations are usually located on Montauk Highway just beyond the center of each town or village.

Fuel for boats (gas or diesel) is not available on Fire Island, so check your tank (or your towing service membership) before you leave your home port or launching site. Marine services are available on many of the major tributary rivers on the Great South Bay, and seasonally at nearby Captree State Park.

Three hard-bound books and portraits from the late 1800s are lined up on a dark table.

Did You Know?
The Floyd family left to the National Park Service more than 3,000 books from their family's personal library. A number of books were written by descendants of William Floyd, who lived in the house at "Old Mastic."
