Cape Lookout National Seashore
For Kids

The Discovery Cart program is a good way to identify all your beach finds.

Learn ...

... about the animals, plants and people that have called the shores of Cape Lookout home.

Rangers can help you identify the items that you discover along the beach. You can also listen to one of the scheduled ranger programs to learn more about Lighthouse Keepers, shipwrecks, and sea creatures of the area.

Become a Junior Ranger! Ask at the Visitor Center for a free Junior Ranger booklet. This booklet is filled with activities that you can do as you learn about the park.

A swim mask helps when looking for creatures on the tidal flats

Explore ...

... the beaches and historic villages on these islands.

Cape Lookout is full of hidden treasures. Look closely and you may find the tracks of a ghost crab in the sand or a moon snail crawling along the the tide flat in search of its next meal.

A ranger helps a young visitor to bait their hook for surf fishing.

Play ...

... in the sand and waves of this beautiful beach.

Surf fishing, building sand castles, or just looking for shells left by the waves are all things you can do at Cape Lookout.
