Big Hole National BattlefieldCoyote Camp Fall 2025: Dates TBDCoyote Camp is Big Hole's leading educational program for school groups, and offers opportunities not found any other time of the year! During this fun, interactive, and educational experience, students spend half the day hiking the battlefield, stopping at stations to learn the history of the site. The other half of the day is dedicated to learning about nımí·pu· (Nez Perce) culture by spending time with cultural experts, including nımí·pu· tribal members. Each group reserves a one-day trip that runs from 10am to 3pm, and programming is designed to target 4th to 8th grade students. Educational groups who want to get the highest quality experience out of their visit are encouraged to attend Coyote Camp. For more information, contact us. Reservations for Other Educational Programming at the BattlefieldDue to our small staff, programs to schools or homeschool groups outside of Coyote Camp are extremely limited, and may not be available. However, all groups who are not able to participate in Coyote Camp are welcome to watch the park film (the theater can accomodate 25 people at a time), hike the trails, and peruse the visitor center. Reservations are required for school groups who would like a ranger to visit their classroom or lead a guided tour of the battlefield. Educational programs can be tailored for any age group and topics can range from introductions to the Nez Perce people and culture to the Nez Perce Flight of 1877.
