Notes: According to his own testimony in AGI, Guadalajara 419, 3M-13, pp. 47-51, he was a Pima ladino born "en el pueblo de Santa Magdalena," and was instrumental in the negotiations with Luis of Saric after the Pima uprising of 1751. He was the first emissary sent to Luis, making two visits to the leader of the uprising in his hideout on Baboquivuri. He refused to go on a third peace mission because a Pima Indian of Ímuris had assured him that he would be killed if he did. Ignacio, the mador of San Ignacio was sent in his place, and was beaten to death by the "macanas," or war clubs of the insurgents.
