Ninety years after the first monument was placed in the National Cemetery, the Stalag XVII-B monument became the last monument dedicated here. Dedicated on May 3, 1989, the anniversary of the liberation of the the German prison camp Stalag-XVII-B, the monument was erected in honor of all the prisoners held in German prison camps in the European theater of operations.
