As a unit of the National Park System, Wilson's Creek National Battlefield is committed to the protection of our resources, as well as providing visitors with a safe park experience. For these reasons, the use of metal detectors are prohibited; buildings, plants, and natural features should not be disturbed; pets must be on a leash not more than six feet long and are not allowed in buildings; horses are restricted to authorized trails, and speed limits and other traffic laws must be obeyed.
WeatherSpring and fall are moderate in temperature and humidity. Summer, particularly July through August, is typically hot and humid. Winter, particularly November through February, is cold with snow and ice possible. Seldom does a snow cover last more than two or three days.
