Pets

Pets are not allowed in the Whitman Mission Visitor Center unless they are service animals, but they are welcome outside on the park grounds.

Visitors can enjoy time outside with their pets at Whitman Mission as long as:

  • Pets are leashed at all times.
  • Pets are always accompanied by an individual. Pets should not be left unattended or tied to any object.
  • Pet excrement is picked up and properly disposed of in a park trashcan.

Service Animals

Service animals are allowed anywhere that individuals are allowed in the park. NPS policy defines a service animal as a dog that has been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability. The tasks performed by the animal must be directly related to the person’s disability.

More information about the National Park Service service animal policy is available on the Service Animals in National Parks webpage.
