Virgin Islands Trees & Plants

Virgin Islands National Park contains some of the most diverse dry tropical forests in the Caribbean with more than 700 native or naturalized plants. Much of the island was cleared during the Danish colonial era, when a great deal of the original forest was altered through grazing, agriculture and development. Within the 7000 acres of park land much of the island has since been allowed to return to forest. Visit the links above to view some of the plants and trees you may encounter while visiting Virgin Islands National Park.
