Valles Caldera National Preserve is filled with awe-inspiring scenery, abundant wildlife, and cultural wonders that can enrich the visitor's experience and understanding of this recovering landscape. Please note that Valles Caldera is still a new unit of the National Park Service, so many points of interest are currently unmarked. The best way to ensure you won't miss anything is to download the National Park Service smartphone app, search for Valles Caldera National Preserve, and save the park's data for offline use before you arrive.

Upon arrival, we ask all visitors to stop at the Entrance Station for a vehicle pass if driving into the park's backcountry (Cabin District, History Grove, Jaramillo Creek, and San Antonio Creek). Pets are allowed only in the Entrance Station parking lot and on the La Jara, Coyote Call, and Valle Grande trailheads. Pets are not permitted beyond the Entrance Station, even if kept inside the vehicle.
