 A new National Park Service report shows that 327,000 visitors to Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River in 2023 spent $16.6 million in communities near the park. That spending supported 157 jobs in the local area and had a cumulative benefit to the local economy of $21 million.  On Saturday August 24, 2024 at 12:00 PM, Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River cordially invites the public to a nineteenth century baseball exhibition featuring the Mountain Athletic Club and the Elizabeth Resolutes. The free game will be at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Lackawaxen, PA.  Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River is celebrating Latino Conservation Week by offering a guided nature hike in Spanish and English on Saturday, August 17, 2024 from 11 AM – 12:30 PM at Sullivan County’s Minisink Battleground Park.

Activities and events include live birds of prey, horse-drawn wagon rides, live music, puppet show, arts & crafts, educational activities, and much more!  “Wear Your Life Jacket to Work” Day takes place on Friday, May 17, 2024. Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River invites the public to help save lives by showing their support for water safety. Two announcements, including one position specific for applicants fluent in Spanish, are open on USAJOBS.gov until February 2 and February 5, 2024, respectively.  Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River celebrates National Park Week, specifically Junior Ranger Day on April 29, 2023, with the launch of a newly designed Junior Ranger interactive, fold-out pocket booklet and wooden Junior Ranger badge.  It looks like winter! Numerous anglers excitedly anticipate this time of year so that they can participate in one of their favorite cold weather activities, which is ice fishing. The National Park Service would like to remind everyone of a few safety precautions to follow while out on the ice this season. One of the most important things to remember is the mandatory cold weather life jacket wear regulation that is in effect through April 30, 2023. Regardless of age, everyone must be wearing a properly fitted and fastened life jacket while boating on the Upper Delaware River this winter. While ice fishing on the river it is strongly recommended and advised that everyone wear a life jacket.  National Park Service (NPS) Northeast Regional Director Gay Vietzke announces Lindsey Kurnath as the next superintendent of Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River, located in Pennsylvania and New York state.  The National Park Service reminds everyone that may be out on the Upper Delaware River this fall or winter in a boat, canoe, or kayak that each person, regardless of age is required to wear a Coast Guard approved personal flotation device (life jacket or PFD) during these cold weather months. This regulation is effective immediately through April 30, 2023.
