The story of the U.S.-Mexican War is complex. However, you can get a good handle on it with a half-day visit to the park and nearby sites. Palo Alto Battlefield NHP is currently in the process of developing the Resaca de la Palma Battlefield site. As development continues, opportunities for victor understanding of this important conflict will increase.

Please be aware—the gates for the Brownsville Historic Battlefield Trail at Palo Alto Battlefield NHP are locked at 5 p.m. If you plan on parking at the park and riding the trail, you must be out by 5 p.m. or you vehicle will be locked in.
