Camping at Theodore Roosevelt

The park has two campgrounds (both have one group site and many standard sites) and one group site for camping with horses. All campgrounds are primitive (no hookups, no showers).

Group sites and half the camp sites in the South Unit are available by reservation. The rest are first come, first served. More information about reservations below.

Reservations

The park cannot accept reservations directly. All reservations must be made through recreation.gov. The following links will direct you to the appropriate recreation.gov pages, or you can call recreation.gov at 1 [phone].

Cottonwood Campground

Sites may be reserved up to 6 months in advance but no less than 5 days before arrival.
Cottonwood Campground - Group Site
Group site reservations open each year on the first business day in March at 8:00 am MST.

Juniper Campground

IMPORTANT: All standard campsites in Juniper are non-reservable (first come, first served). Only the group site can be reserved.

Backpack Camping

Hikers and horseback riders who choose to spend the night in the park's backcountry can do so by filling out a free Backcountry Permit in the North or South Unit Visitor Centers.
