Thing to Do
Visit Theodore Roosevelt's Maltese Cross Cabin

NPS Photo
When Theodore Roosevelt first came to the badlands of Dakota territory on a bison hunt in 1883, he had no idea how much his life was about to change. Falling in love with the area, he purchased a stake in a ranch and had a cabin built on this new property, a comfortable place for him to stay when he visited. Now, this cabin sits on the grounds of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park South Unit Visitor Center and is open daily for self-guided tours during visitor center hours.
