NPS Photo
Green Tree Tavern is the oldest building that is still standing in Ste. Genevieve. Built in 1790, the home has also served as a tavern, an inn, a tobacco shop, and a Masonic Lodge. Though it is the oldest house in town, Green Tree Tavern is the newest addition to Ste. Genevieve National Historical Park. It is also one of the few where you can clearly see the vertical logs that make up the structure.
The grounds are open from dawn to dusk, and the building is open daily for self-guided visits. Join a ranger-led program to learn more about the history of the house and its residents. For more information about program offerings, please call the Ste. Genevieve Welcome Center at 573-880-7189.
