      One sky visible at many parks.

      If you are camping, of course you can view the night skies all night long. With a few exceptions, other places along the Parkway are closed after sunset to protect the resource.

      Places that are open until 10pm are:
      • Big Tree Overlook - milepost 439.4 (north end)
      • Little Mountain Exhibit Shelter - milepost 193.1 (central area)
      • Reservoir Overlook - milepost 105.6 (south end)

NPS scientists with the Natural Sounds and Night Skies Division (NSNSD) discussed the camera—how it works, what the images reveal, why it is important, and how it advances the NPS mission.
