Do the Junior Ranger Program
Are you interested in Ulysses S. Grant and the American Civil War? Do you find presidential history fascinating? Do you want to learn more about women's history, slavery, and life on a 19th century farm? The Junior Ranger Program helps students of all ages learn more about Ulysses S. Grant's life and times. While the program is geared for students between the ages of 5 and 14, anyone can work on the activity books, become a Junior Ranger (or perhaps a Senior Ranger!) and earn a badge.
You can get a free, age-appropriate Junior Ranger Activity book from the front desk inside the park's Visitor Center. Three different books are offered (ages 5-7, ages 8-10, and ages 11+), and a park bingo sheet is offered for children under the age of five. Follow the activity instructions in the activity book while visiting the park. When the activity book is complete, return to the Visitor Center to receive your official Junior Ranger badge for Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site.

Prospective Junior Rangers and their families should budget 60-90 minutes to watch the film, tour White Haven, walk through the museum, and completed the required number of activities in the Junior Ranger book.

Service animals are permitted anywhere in the park, including the historic house. All other pets are not allowed in any building on the property. A service animal is defined as “any dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability”. Dogs are the only animals that can be used as a service animal except for miniature horses.
