Hike to a Bird's Eye View
In the Giant Forest, take a hike out of Crescent Meadow to a spectacular spot: Eagle View. Some say it's even better than views from Moro Rock! Take the High Sierra Trail from the Crescent Meadow parking area. The trail starts in a shady sequoia grove at the edge of a meadow. It then ascends 3/4 mile to the viewpoint, with an elevation gain of 280 feet. From the rocky cliffs, enjoy a view of the Sequoia-Kings Canyon Wilderness and the high Sierra.
After you're done enjoying this bird's eye view of the park, you may return the way you came or you can continue hiking on the High Sierra Trail. This trail continues for many miles, so you can choose how far to hike and then turn around. Along this trail, you might see marmots, mule deer, birds, and other wildlife.

Eagle View is reached via the High Sierra Trail. This trailhead starts at Crescent Meadow in the Giant Forest.
You can drive to the Giant Forest in Sequoia National Park from two different directions. From the north, take Highway 180 east to Grant Grove, and then take the Generals Highway to the Giant Forest. From the south, take Highway 198 east to Foothills, and then take the Generals Highway to the Giant Forest. Once there, drive to the Giant Forest Museum and take the Crescent Meadow/Moro Rock road to the Crescent Meadow parking area.
During the summer, parking is extremely limited. We suggest taking the free Sequoia Shuttle to Crescent Meadow. Check the park newspaper for shuttle routes and locations.

The trailhead has some accessible parking spaces with significant slopes and accessible vault toilets. A wheelchair-accessible shuttle stops here in the summer.
