We are very excited to have you visit Oakland Plantation and/or Magnolia Plantation! Below, you will find information you need to know before your class / education group visit.

Once a date is selected, we will send you a confirmation agreement that needs to be returned to us with your arrival times, lunch time, and other details.
Tour Information:
• House tours of the Oakland Plantation are not built into the grounds tour. If you would like a self-guided house tour, please let our staff know so we can book additional time.
• Gift shop time at the Oakland plantation is not built into regular programing. If you would like this added let our staff know.
Lunch:
• There is no food available for purchase on-site. Please plan to bring student lunches.
• Picnic tables are available first come first served at the Oakland location, but limited at the Magnolia location, depending on the number of students in your group. You may want to bring blankets to eat in grass.
Amenities:
• Majority of your field trip takes place entirely outdoors. There are no air-conditioned buildings. Field trips are subject to cancellation due to heat index levels for safety.
• Water fountains and water bottle refill stations are available, please have students bring water, or a bottle to refill.
Inclement Weather:
• Your trip can take place rain or shine! However, this may include walks in the rain. Rain jackets and umbrellas are recommended.
• All trips are subject to cancellation due to lightning, storms, heat index, as well as all other major weather and safety events.
Safety:
• The walkways are uneven, and are a combination of rubber paving mats, gravel, and mowed grass.
• Please have students wear closed toe shoes due to fire ants.
• Wildlife is present at the parks, always stay alert.

To reach Magnolia Plantation, take I-49 to Exit 119, Cloutierville. Cross over LA Highway 1 onto LA Highway 119. Follow Highway 119 for 1.1 miles; the visitor parking lot will be on the right just before the plantation store.
From Downtown Natchitoches: Proceed over the Keyser Avenue Bridge. Once on Keyser, drive approximately 13 miles. Turn left onto Highway 119 (bridge across Cane River Lake at Oakland Plantation). Once across Cane River Lake turn right on Highway 119. Follow Highway 119 for 5 miles, taking a left at the "Y." The visitor parking lot is on the left after you pass the main house and plantation store.
From University Drive: Proceed south along University Drive / Rapides Drive, heading out of town. Merge onto Highway 1 and continue for approximately 15 miles. At the town of Derry, turn left onto Highway 119. Follow Highway 119 for 1.1 until you reach the visitor parking lot on the right.To reach the grounds of Magnolia Plantation, take I-49 to Exit 119, Derry. Head east on LA Highway 119. Cross over LA Highway 1 and proceed for 1.1 miles. The parking area and grounds of Magnolia Plantation are on the right. The main house at Magnolia is privately owned and not open to the public.
From University Drive: Proceed south along University Drive / Rapides Drive, heading out of town. Merge onto Highway 1 and continue south for 16 miles. At the village of Derry, turn left on Highway 119 for 1.1 miles until you reach the park on the right.
Oakland Plantation

Parking at Oakland is in a large gravel lot, located behind the Plantation Owner Home / Main House. To reach Oakland Plantation, take I-49 to Exit 127, Flora/Cypress. Turn east on LA Highway 120 toward Cypress. Cross over LA Highway 1 onto LA Highway 494. Follow Highway 494 for 4.5 miles; the visitor parking lot will be on the left after you pass the main house and after the large curve in the road.
From Downtown Natchitoches: Proceed over the Keyser Avenue Bridge. Once on Keyser, drive approximately 12 miles until you reach the visitor parking lot on the right. DO NOT get off this road; it leads to the park.
From University Drive: Proceed south along University Drive / Rapides Drive, heading out of town. Merge onto Highway 1 and continue for approximately 4 miles. At the town of Natchez, turn left onto Highway 119 at the yellow blinking light. Follow Highway 119 for .5 miles and then turn right onto Highway 494. Once on Highway 494, drive 2.5 miles until you reach the visitor parking lot on the right.
