Self-Guided Field Trip to Cuyahoga Valley's Station Road Bridge Area

Where to Start

The Station Road Bridge Trailhead at Cuyahoga Valley National Park is an ideal starting point to bring students to see and learn more about Ohio's only national park. At this location, students can see the Cuyahoga River, walk on the historic Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail, and have a sighting of America's National Symbol, the Bald Eagle, which nests in this area.

Most schools in the Cleveland/Akron area are within an hour's drive to Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

  • Picnic Lunch (Optional; amenities available: year-round restroom access and water fountain in warmer months)

Student Activities

The self-guided field trip is an outdoor gallery walk around the Station Road Bridge area. The gallery walk has four stations, each with its own activity found in the Junior Ranger Handbook. Teachers can divide the students into four groups and have the adult with each group facilitate and guide students through the learning activities at each station.
