Did you know the commander of the Tuskegee Airmen was first a Buffalo Soldier?
Join a Park Ranger for a 30-minute talk on the life and legacy of General Benjamin O. Davis, Jr.
General Davis Jr. built a legacy well beyond being the fourth African American to graduate from West Point. He learned from the legacies that came before him to go further and higher in his military career.
He commanded the Buffalo Soldiers and later the Tuskegee Airmen. After World War II, he wrote the plan to integrate the U.S. Air Force. He served all over the world from the frontlines to the Pentagon. Even after retirement, he continued to serve the public in various administrations, creating change on various levels to leave a legacy of his own. He lived a life of service to his country and fellow Americans, well beyond his retirement, to leave a legacy that still resonates with millions today.
