Common species have been reported in Chase County, but not within the National Preserve. Common species may be on the edge of their range, lack favorable habitats within the preserve, or merely unobserved thus far. Present species have been documented by National Park Service personnel in cooperation with the Heartland Network Inventory and Monitoring Program during surveys in 2002 and 2003. Additional species have been added after verified identification.
