Mosaics in Science Program Calendar

Positions are posted on our partner's website in early December of each year for candidates to apply. Please see the Mosaics in Science Program calendar below for additional information about the program's schedule.

 

Date	Action
September - October	Parks/Regions/Networks work with the Natural Resource Stewardship and Science office to determine their natural resource inventory, monitoring, GIS, education, and/or interpretive needs
December - January	early December: Positions are posted online. Partners advertise positions to college students and recent graduates underrepresented in STEM fields late January: DEADLINE to submit/postmark applications
February-March	early February: Partner conducts initial screening of applications to ensure that applications provided to site supervisors are complete mid February: NPS supervisors receive applications mid February - early March: supervisors review applications, conduct phone interviews with top candidates, and make an offer to the best candidate third week in March: DEADLINE for supervisors to select participant and notify partner of selected participant end of March: DEADLINE for the selected participant to accept or decline the summer position offer end of March: Partner sends acceptance packets to selected participants. Selected participant must sign a participant agreement, nondisclosure agreement, and interagency volunteer agreement to officially accept the position and agree to terms of the Mosaics in Science program. Participants begin security background clearance process
April	Partner officially notifies applicants that were not selected
May - July	Most positions begin in the middle of May to early June
August	Mandatory career workshop held first full week in August in Washington DC
September	mid September: DEADLINE for participants to send final report & evaluation materials to partner and for supervisors to submit evaluation forms on participant & program to partner September 30: due date for annual accomplishments report
