    On September 21 and 22, the National Park Service will sponsor its annual World War II living history weekend at Eisenhower National Historic Site. The public is invited to tour World War II encampments of over 500 living historians portraying Allied and Axis troops. The weekend also features a speaker’s tent where historians will discuss a wide variety of World War II topics.

    Gettysburg National Military Park is pleased to announce Ranger walks, talks, and hikes will resume beginning Saturday, June 12. Additionally, Gettysburg National Military Park will commemorate the 158th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg with special in-person programming and interpretive experiences throughout the three-day battle anniversary from July 1-3, 2021.

    Join Eisenhower National Historic Site (NHS) staff for our annual World War II Weekend from September 20 to 22. This year’s event theme is 1944, remembering the millions of Americans and Allies in arms who joined together with General Dwight D. Eisenhower in a “great crusade” to fight for freedom over fascism 80 years ago. Park rangers, guest speakers, living historians, and partner organizations will bring the stories and people of 1944 to life through three days of interactive programming and activities for visitors of all ages.

    Join staff from Eisenhower National Historic Site (NHS) to commemorate the 78th anniversary of D-Day with special programming from June 4 to 6. Explore a WWII living history encampment at Eisenhower NHS and join a park ranger for a guided tour of Gettysburg National Cemetery to learn about the D-Day casualties buried there. All programs are free.

    On July 18 and 19, 2024, Gettysburg National Military Park and Gettysburg Foundation staff received a delegation from our Sister Park, the Sekigahara Battlefield, Sekigahara, Japan. Representatives from the Gifu Prefecture government, Sekigahara Battlefield and Japanese tourism associates were in attendance. Since the 2016 World Battlefields Summit Joint Declaration, this most recent visit continued the Sister Park relationship between the Gettysburg and Sekigahara battlefields.

    Devil’s Den Rehabilitation Project

    Gettysburg National Military Park announces that Devil’s Den will close for rehabilitation work on Monday, March 21. The rehabilitation of Devil’s Den will address significant erosion and safety issues in this highly visited area of the battlefield. Devil’s Den will be closed for approximately five to six months.

    In order to maintain the highest safety standards possible, and out of an abundance of caution, Eisenhower National Historic Site staff safely removed a WWII era armament from the museum collection. The grenade had been on display since March 2018 in an exhibit at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center entitled “Eisenhower’s Leadership from Camp Colt to D-Day”.
