The George Washington Memorial Parkway Station was initially set up in Glen Echo Park as a temporary measure in the winter of 1969. District Two (as it's called) has remained at that location for over 30 years and moved to a new Station at Turkey Run in March 2002. The officers of the George Washington Memorial Parkway Station are responsible for the public safety and law enforcement on the George Washington Memorial Parkway (GWMP), the Clara Barton Parkway (formerly GWMP-Maryland), and the C&O Canal. Their areas of responsibility include Great Falls, Maryland and Virginia; Mount Vernon;Fort Hunt;the Washington Sailing, Columbia Island and Belle Haven Marinas; Theodore Roosevelt Island; Iwo Jima; Turkey Run; Fort Marcy; and the remaining areas of the C&O Canal from the Washington, DC, line to Seneca, Maryland.

In 1971, the Station took on responsibility for the newly opened Wolf Trap Farm Park for the Performing Arts. Tragically, the Filene Center was destroyed by fire in 1982; however, it was rebuilt and remains a showcase for major performances today. In addition, this District provides police service to Arlington National Cemetery. The heavily used George Washington Memorial Parkway provides a major thoroughfare for Washington, DC. Officers at the George Washington Memorial Parkway Station are highly experienced in accident investigation, traffic management, and enforcement. Each year thousands of citations are issued to maintain public safety. The areas are also patrolled by scooter and plainclothes officers and, just recently, photo radar was introduced.

The George Washington Memorial Parkway Station is located at 700 George Washington Memorial Parkway, McLean, Virginia 22101. To contact the station, call (703) 285-1000.
