Ranger Roadshow Episode 3: "Nature's Role in the Underground Railroad" and Adkins Arboretum
The Network to Freedom’s (NTF) third Ranger Roadshow presentation highlights Adkins Arboretum’s program, “A Journey Begins: Nature’s Role in the Underground Railroad.” Adkins Arboretum created this program to bring freedom seekers experiences to life. With assistance from a 2020 NTF grant, the program is expanding to include a self guided virtual tour with SchoolHouse Farm House. Ranger Roadshow Episode 5: Seminole Indian Scouts Cemetery
On this episode of the Ranger Roadshow, Black Seminole descendants join us at the Seminole Indian Scouts Cemetery to share their ancestors’ story: from the ethnogenesis of the Black Seminole people to the importance of the cemetery today as a pilgrimage site for descendants. Persecuted by the U.S. Army and slave hunters, the Black Seminoles, including freedom seekers to whom the community gave refuge, traveled on the Trail of Tears from Florida to Oklahoma and then found freedom in Coahuila, Mexico.
