Located in central New Mexico, Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument showcases Native American pueblos and 17th-century Spanish missions, a reminder of the early contact between ancestral Puebloan people and Spanish Colonials and their missionary efforts. The park’s three distinct sites each contain the ruins of a mission church and pueblos. The 1,077-acre park is situated in the foothills of the Manzano Mountains. Vegetation consists of pinyon-juniper woodlands in the lower elevations that are cut with canyons and rocky outcrops. Visitors to the park walk interpretive trails, visit museums, and view scenery like that from centuries before.
