National Park Week 2025 will take place April 19-27.
This year's overall theme is National Park Playlist.
Music is a fun, creative and meaningful way to connect people with national parks and public lands.
During National Park Week…
- Highlight people, places, and stories related to parks and programs.
- Celebrate parks and public lands in whatever way works best, whether it’s through in-person or virtual activities, social media posts, or digital content that highlights the many ways that people connect to parks and the NPS impact in communities across the country.
Did You Know?
The first National Park Week occurred in 1991 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the NPS. The next National Park Week was held in 1994 and it has been an annual event ever since. National Park Week is a yearly celebration to encourage people to discover places, programs, experiences, and stories of the NPS.
National Park Week emphasizes the role of the NPS and our partners as stewards of America’s extraordinary places and provides opportunities for people from all backgrounds to form and strengthen their relationships to these places.
Ways for Partners to Engage
- Are there ways that you can put together “signature” activities – including virtual programs – with or about your partner park?
- Publicize activities that take place April 19 through 27 as National Park Week events and brand them with National Park Week.
- Post in social media what you (and your partner park) are doing—use the hashtag: #NationalParkWeek & #NationalParkPlaylist!
Theme Days
The overall theme for National Park Week 2025 is National Park Playlist.
Music is a universal language that evokes emotional connections. The theme encourages creativity and enables parks, programs, partners, and the public to produce and share a variety of content. It also enables the use of a variety of music-related graphics such as music festival posters, concert tour tee shirts, album covers, playlists, etc. Can you find a musical connection to highlight?
Below is information about individual theme days. Each is the title of a musical genre that is also a play on words related to NPS happenings.
For instance, heavy metal can refer to the Gateway Arch, Statue of Liberty or any statue, train, machine, bridge, classic car, etc. in your collection. Classic rock can be Mount Rushmore, Landscape Arch, or any geologic feature associated with a park or program. Alternative provides an opportunity to highlight something a little less known, perhaps an alternative to popular sections, trails, overlooks, etc.
- Saturday, April 19 - Greatest Hits
- Sunday, April 20 - Alternative
- Monday, April 21 - Pop
- Tuesday, April 22 - Nature Songs
- Wednesday, April 23 - Classic Rock

You also don’t have to limit yourself to the daily themes. On any day throughout the week, share info, fun facts, videos, or other content related to any type of music. It's a great opportunity to re-up previous music-related content, too. The opportunities are endless!
