Nominated under Criteria A and B for its direct and exceptional significance association with the music recording industry in Minneapolis and for its association with Prince (Prince Rogers Nelson). Submitted as part of the Prince, 1958-87 MPS, the nomination provides an excellent background on the music recording scene in Minneapolis and noted the many acts that recorded in Sound 80 Studio, from Bob Dylan to Lipps, Inc. The primary focus is on Prince and his early recordings and how they were instrumental in advancing his career.
