SAM.gov and Grants.gov Registration Information for First Time Applicants

All National Park Service grant applications are submitted online. Organizations must be registered in two government systems to apply for National Park Service grants:

  • The System for Award Management (SAM.gov) registers organizations to conduct business with the U.S. Government, which includes federal grants.

  • Grants.gov is the official system for managing all federal grant applications.

SAM.gov

Grantees (direct recipients) are required by 2 CFR 200 and the terms of their grant agreement to maintain a current registration with SAM.gov if they have an active grant. Sub-recipients are not required to maintain a current registration with SAM.gov.

If you applied as a direct recipient (State Lead Agencies, Federally recognized Indian Tribes, Alaska Native Corporations, and Alaska Native Organizations) please review the following information: HOW TO REGISTER A NEW ENTITY IN SAM.GOV. You will need to register your entity and receive a Unique Entity ID from SAM.gov before submitting your Initial Application into Grants.gov.

Grants.gov

Grantees (direct recipients) that are eligible to submit their application directly will submit their application into Grants.gov. To get started developing your application in Grants.gov, please visit How to Apply for Grants | Grants.gov. This website has training resources and FAQ pages related to every step in the Grants.gov application process.
