William Wadsworth

William Wadsworth was an American sea captain hired by the Russian American Company (RAC) to sail the Russian ship Il’mena. He took RAC sea otter hunting crews to San Nicolas and San Clemente Islands in 1814. After depositing the hunters, Wadsworth continued to the Spanish Californian coast to trade for supplies. He sailed back to the Channel Islands to pick up the hunting crews.
