Law and Policy

The National Park Service works to manage invasive species on park lands and waters through a suite of strategies:

• cooperation and collaboration
• inventory and monitoring
• prevention
• early detection and rapid response
• treatment and control
• restoration

While there are several laws and policies that guide how parks manage invasive species, the two key documents governing invasive species management at parks are Executive Order 13751 and NPS Policies 2006. These not only allow us to manage invasive species in the parks, but make it our responsibility to do so.
