Earth Science Week

Earth Science Week will be held from October 13-19, 2024 and will celebrate the theme "Earth Science Everywhere." The theme will emphasize the importance of the geosciences in the lives of all people.

The National Park Service has been a partner with the American Geosciences Institute and a supporter of the Earth Science Week partnership since its inception in 1998. Parks around the country offer special geologic programs during Earth Science Week.

National Fossil Day

Through the Earth Science Week partnership, National Fossil Day was created in 2010. National Fossil Day is the Focus Day on Wednesday during Earth Science Week. National Fossil Day is an annual celebration held to highlight the scientific and educational value of paleontology and the importance of preserving fossils for future generations.
