There are more than 33,000 described species of fishes in the world—that’s more than all other vertebrates combined! The waters of the national parks are home to many species of fish. In fact, you can find about 60% of all native freshwater fish in the U.S. in national parks. Park visitors can see fish in aquatic habitats ranging from isolated springs in the southwest desert to the deep waters of the ocean.
