With the purchase of one of the Wright brothers first aircraft in 1909, U.S. Military Aviation was born. Since then, military aviation has gone from being a part of the U.S. Army Signal Corps to the U.S. Army Air Corps to its own military branch, the U.S. Air Force in 1947. Coupled with the Navy, U.S. military aviation has proved to be a formidable force since the early 20th century. Read about some of the more famous military aircraft throughout aviation history here.
