The mid-Atlantic region was a crossroads between Native American tribes, colonies, and states to the north and south. Providing the base for colonial and federal government, and sharing cultural characteristics with its New England and Southeast neighbors, the mid-Atlantic incorporates villages, farms, ports, transportation routes, and battlefields into a story of change.
