Designated in 1938, Salem Maritime was the first park to be preserved as a national historic site. It is an 9-acre national park containing ten historic buildings, nine archeological sites, four historic wharfs, and a historic light station that date between 1675 and 1944.

Salem Maritime National Historic Site has two visitor centers located less than a 10 minute walk from one another. Find exhibits, maps, brochures, films, and a traditional park store at the Salem Armory Visitor Center in downtown Salem. The Waite & Peirce Park Store on Derby Street provides a boutique shopping experience to help you find the perfect souvenir.
