The Cornish Colony was a flourishing art community that arose around Augustus Saint-Gaudens as he lived in New Hampshire. The park along with other community organizations invite you to several special events remembering this group of artists and their legacy today in Cornish and Plainfield, NH.

Blow-Me-Down Farm Walking Tour

2:30pm, Saturday, October 12
Join a special walking tour of the historic and beautiful Blow-Me-Down Farm located along the banks of the Connecticut River.
Reservations not required. This free program begins at Blow-Me-Down Farm, located off NH Route 12A on Beaman Drive.

Creating a Beautiful Life

Augustus Saint-Gaudens and the members of the Cornish Art Colony sought, found, and shared beauty in many different ways during their time in New Hampshire. This program explores the importance of beauty, the variety of places beauty was found in Cornish, and how we can continue the traditions of the Cornish Colony by seeking beauty in our own lives into the present day. This 45-minute interactive guided program includes several outdoor stops throughout the park's historic core.
Reservations are not required. Free with park entry. Begins outside the park visitor center.

Hidden History Tour

3pm - 3:45pm, Sunday, October 14
Explore the often overlooked figures important to the park's history including Augusta Homer Saint-Gaudens and Davida Johnson Clark in this special ranger-guided program.

Annual Maxfield Parrish Show and Sale

10am - 5pm, Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 13
View vintage prints of works by Cornish Colony member Maxfield Parrish while experiencing the one-of-a-kind stage set designed by the artist.
This event is located in the Plainfield Town Hall at 1079 Route 12A Plainfield, NH 03781.

Objects from the Cornish Colony

10am - 5pm, Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 13
The Plainfield Historical Society exhibits objects from their collection in the organization's historic clubhouse.
This event is located at 1063 Route 12A Plainfield, NH.

 

A Tour of the Cornish Colony Through Vintage Postcards and Photos

2pm, Sunday, October 13
Bev and Bob Widger share the history of the Cornish Colony in this special presentation.
This event is located in the Philip Read Memorial Library, opposite the Plainfield Town Hall on Route 12A.
