When Are Reservations or Permits Required?

General Visitors

No Reservations Required
General visitors (usually groups of fewer than 10 people) can explore the park’s exhibits and historical sites without making prior reservations.

Large Group Visits (Non-Education)

Reservations Recommended
For groups of 10 or more that are not related to educational programs:

• Advance Notice: Please call us to ensure your preferred date is available. The visitor center can become crowded, and we may need to suggest alternative times.

School Educational Programs and Classroom Visits

Reservations Required
All school group tours must be scheduled in advance. To request a tour:

• Reservation Request: Submit your request at least 4 weeks prior to your visit.
• Details Needed: Group size, preferred date and time, educational goals, and any special requests.

As of January 4, 2025, a new law called the EXPLORE Act changed how the National Park Service manages filming, photography, and audio recording in national parks.
