General Information
What are the park's hours of operation?
The Visitor Education Center is open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, except on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.
Where is the park located?
The park is located in Richmond, California, along the scenic waterfront.
Is there an admission fee?
No, entry to the Visitor Education Center and park grounds is free.
When was the park established?
The park was established on October 24, 2000. The Visitor Education Center opened in May 2012, with permanent exhibits installed in May 2014.
Activities and Programs
What exhibits and programs are available?
Explore interactive exhibits on WWII home front history, a number of park films. When available, you may also join guided tours, participate in educational programs, and attend special events.
Are guided tours available?
Yes, guided tours are occasionally offered. Check the park’s event calendar or contact the Visitor Education Center for tour schedules.
How can I become a Junior Ranger?
Pick up a Junior Ranger booklet at the Visitor Education Center. Complete the activities and earn your Junior Ranger badge! We are not able to mail out Junior Ranger books or badges.
What special programs does the center offer?
Programs focus on the civilian home front experience during WWII. For the latest schedule, check the calendar page. For groups of 10 or more, contact the center to arrange theater screenings or activities.
Visitor Amenities
Is the park accessible to people with disabilities?
Yes, the park prioritizes accessibility. The Visitor Education Center and most exhibits are wheelchair accessible. Please note, our accessible Audio Description (AD) audio tour and Assited Listening in the visitor center galleries are not available at this time. We are working on replacing outdated equipment. However, the theater is accessible with captions and AD/AL devices (upon request).
Are there picnic areas?
Yes, designated picnic areas are available for visitors to enjoy.
Are there places to eat nearby?

Is there parking available?
Yes, free parking is available near the Visitor Education Center and other park sites. See our Directions page for more information.
Can I bring my pet?
Pets are welcome on the park grounds but must be kept on a leash at all times. Pets are not permitted inside buildings unless they are official ADA guide pets.
Can I bike to the Visitor Education Center?
Absolutely! The San Francisco Bay Trail provides direct access. Bike racks are available outside the center; don’t forget your lock.
Special Experiences
Can I meet Rosie?
Yes, meet real "Rosies" who volunteer at the Visitor Education Center and share their inspiring stories. Check the calendar or call the center for availability, which is usually on Friday's. Please note that our "Rosie" docents are now in their late 90's and up and may not be available. Masks are generally required during their programs.
Can I volunteer at the park?
Yes, we welcome volunteers! Visit the park’s website or contact the Visitor Education Center to learn more about opportunities.

What’s the difference between the Rosie the Riveter Memorial and the Visitor Center?
The Rosie the Riveter Memorial is an outdoor public art sculpture located about one mile east of the Visitor Center along the San Francisco Bay Trail.
Do I need to make reservations for a group visit?
Yes, reservations are encouraged for groups larger than 10 people. Call 510-232-5050 x0 to arrange your visit.
Do you sell National Park Passes?
No, since the park is free to enter, we do not sell National Park Passes. Passes can be purchased online or at other parks that charge entrance fees.
Local History and Surroundings
What is the large brick building next to the Visitor Center?
That’s the Historic Ford Assembly Building, which once produced jeeps during WWII. Today, it houses businesses, a restaurant, and an event space.
