Visitors with Physical/Mobility NeedsThe multi-level Visitor Education Center is fully accessible with the use of an elevator. All displays are positioned for viewing from both seated and standing positions. Accessible restrooms, drinking fountains, and a theater are located on the lower level. The theater entrance has a gently sloping ramp providing access to the front row, which can accommodate two wheelchairs. Additional wheelchair spaces are available at the back of the theater. Two designated disabled parking spaces are located on the north end of the building.Information for People Who are Deaf or Hard of HearingThe two orientation films, Home Front Heroes and The War at Home, shown in the downstairs theater, are closed captioned. Assisted-listening devices are available in the theater upon request. Audio-visual exhibits in the upstairs galleries also feature closed captioning, with assisted-listening devices available. A closed-captioned and audio-described version of Home Front Heroes can be accessed on the park website. This is the only park film on the website, that is shown in the Rosie theater.Sign-Language (ASL) ServicesRosie the Riveter/WWII Home Front NHP is committed to providing an enriching experience for all visitors. We are pleased to offer sign language interpretation for public programs upon request. As we do not have a sign language interpreter on staff, please contact the park at least two weeks in advance of your visit or when making your tour reservation to arrange this service.Services for Blind/Low Vision VisitorsPlease Note: Due to the unexpected end of the original equipment's lifecycle, our upstairs Audio Description program is currently unavailable. We are in the process of replacing the equipment and program, which may take some time. The original program contained over three hours of content. In the meantime, our theater films are available with separate Audio Description and Assisted Listening devices. Our staff and volunteers are happy to assist anyone needing guidance around the visitor center. Thank you for your patience and understanding.The main park brochure is available in braille; please inquire at the front desk to borrow a copy. Some permanent exhibits are designed for tactile interaction. For example, the Visitor Center features a sculpted brass version of the famous WWII poster "We Can Do It" for visitors to touch, and a large tactile map of the Richmond Shipyards with a braille legend. Visitors with Learning DisabilitiesThe exhibits are designed to engage a wide audience and various age groups.
