 The National Park Service (NPS) has recognized three employees in the Pacific West Region for their dedication to preserving park cultural resources and history for this and future generations of visitors. The annual, regional recognition applauds creativity and outstanding contributions in cultural resource management, particularly projects that serve as models across the agency. RICHMOND, Calif.-- The National Park Service invites the public to celebrate Ranger Betty Reid Soskin’s retirement on Saturday, April 16, from 1-2 p.m. at Craneway Pavilion, 1414 Harbour Way South, Richmond, California. RICHMOND, Calif. – Betty Reid Soskin, the National Park Service’s (NPS) oldest active ranger, retired today after a decade and a half of sharing her personal experiences and the efforts of women from diverse backgrounds who worked on the World War II Home Front. SAN FRANCISCO - The National Park Service (NPS) has selected K. Lynn Berry to serve as the superintendent of Eugene O’Neill and John Muir National Historic Sites, Port Chicago Naval Magazine National Memorial and Rosie the Riveter-World War II Home Front National Historical Park in California. She currently serves as the superintendent of Congaree National Park in South Carolina and will begin her new role in early April. Richmond, CA – Join National Park Service ranger, Betty Reid Soskin for an hour long informal virtual chat, every Thursday, at 2 pm, beginning May 13. Betty will share her thoughts and insights and answer questions in this informal virtual gathering. For those who have met her, this will be another opportunity to connect and share. For those who have yet to meet her, this will be a chance to ask those questions you have always wanted to ask. The session will be moderated by Ranger Armand Johnson, and may vary in length depending on how Betty is feeling. Richmond, CA (April 22, 2021) Rosie the Riveter/WWII Home Front National Historical Park, and park partner Rosie the Riveter Trust, are among the 32 parks and park partners to receive an Open OutDoors for Kids Hybrid Learning grant from the National Park Foundation (NPF), which works in partnership with the National Park Service (NPS) and the park partner community to ensure that national parks reach their fullest potential and connect with as many people as possible. Richmond, CA – Following guidance from the White House, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and state and local public health authorities, Rosie the Riveter/WWII Home Front National Historical Park (NHP) is increasing access. Richmond, CA – In celebration of the centennial of the 19th amendment, Women’s right to vote, the National Park Service on August 26, 2020 is lighting up the Craneway Pavillion smoke stack with the colors of purple and gold on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 starting at 7:00 PM. Purple, white and gold were the colors of the Women’s Suffrage Movement. (Richmond, CA) – On Saturday, April 14th at 11:00am, local author Jeane Slone will highlight stories of love, loss, prejudice, courage and sacrifice from her historical novel about the Richmond Home Front, the Port Chicago explosion and the incarceration of Japanese Americans before, during and after World War II.  DENVER — Susan “Sue” Fritzke, deputy superintendent of four National Park Service (NPS) sites in the San Francisco Bay Area, has been named superintendent of Capitol Reef NP in Utah by NPS Intermountain Region Director Sue Masica.
