Frequently Asked Questions

Will the format be the same as last year?

Yes and no. Like last year, the event will take place over three days in mid-February and be fully virtual to increase the reach to attendees across our region.

However, this year's symposium will have a greater variety of session formats—including keynote speakers and moderated panels! We're also altering the setup of the research talks; presenters can share their work in a five-minute lightning talk format or as a poster in multiple virtual poster sessions. Finally, we're pleased to be able to host this year's event on the Zoom platform.

I'm not a scientist. Should I come to the symposium?

Yes! We welcome anyone curious about science in parks to attend. Talks will be academic in style but accessible to a broader audience. We invite community park partners, affiliated Tribes, partner agencies, members of the scientific community, local educational organizations, and all NPS staff, volunteers, and friends to join us. Help spread the word!

Will sessions be recorded?

All presentations will be recorded and posted online. However, please expect a delay of several weeks to allow for recordings to be processed and captioned in accordance with federal accessibility guidelines.

Other questions? Reach out to symposium organizers.
