Partial Solar Eclipse Viewing

  • 08/21/2017 Location: Alibates Visitor Center, Time: 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM Fee Information: Free
Join Park Rangers at Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument to safely view the partial solar
eclipse. Viewing glasses and pinhole eclipse viewers are available free of charge at the Visitor
    Center.

A ranger lead presentation about the wonders and physics of a solar eclipse will take place in
the Alibates theater at 11:00AM, lasting 25 minutes. Learn how rare a total eclipse is, how to
safely view an eclipse, and how they have inspired people for thousands of years.

    Start of partial eclipse: 11:29AM
    Maximum eclipse: 12:56PM
    End of partial eclipse: 2:25PM

From Alibates, 80% of the sun will be blocked (eclipsed) as the moon passes between the sun and
Earth. The next chance to see a solar eclipse near the Texas Panhandle will be August 12th,
2045, making each opportunity special.  Find more information at:https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/
