The Great American Eclipse will take place on August 21, 2017 and can be seen from any place in the United States.  While the North Carolina coast is not on the path to witness a total solar eclipse, we will enjoy having a partial eclipse with about 93% of the sun covered by the moon.

Join us at the park's visitor centers to not only observe this amazing cosmic event through solar projection telescopes, but also take part in other solar related activities.  You can even become a Jr Ranger Eclipse Explorer!  Free Eclipse Viewers will be handed out, while supplies last, for viewing the eclipse directly.

Partial eclipse is predicted to start at 1:22 pm; maximum partial eclipse at 2:50 pm; partial eclipse is predicted to end at 4:10 pm.

Need help finding the park's visitor centers?  Using a GPS?  Here are their correct GPS locations:  Beaufort Visitor Information Center (700 Front Street, Beaufort, NC 28516), Note: viewing activities will be set up in the park across the street from the visitor center;  Harkers Island Visitor Center (1800 Island Rd, Harkers Island, NC 28531)
