  During the months of late August, September and October, visitors are encouraged to pick apples from the park's historic apple orchard.  The apples include historic varieties not commonly found in today's modern orchards.  The park provides all picking equipment and directions. 
  
  Apples are sold at the cost of $1 per pound, regardless of variety or condition. Check at the Visitor Center on what varieties are ripe.
  
  Purchases will be accepted in cash or check only.  
  
  2018 Apple Picking Season update: Orchard and park remain open 7 days per week through October 14. 
  
  Beginning Monday, October 15, the park will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, returning to park standard hours.
